The UK Curry Championships takes pride in showcasing the best of British curry culture

and providing a platform for curry professionals to show off their culinary skills.

Curry chefs are invited from around the country to come and compete and cook their best curry dishes in the hope to become

UK Curry Champion / National Curry Chef of the Year.

 

The British Culinary Championships is one of the UK’s largest live culinary competitions and will take place at Central Bedfordshire College on 28-29th May 2025. Thursday 29th May 2025 will host a schedule of competition classes dedicated to Asian and Oriental cuisine culminating in The UK Curry Championships hosted by UK Curry Connect.

 

There are many chef competitions but this is the only one to definitively crown the best curry chef in the country

as UK CURRY CHAMPION and NATIONAL CURRY CHEF OF THE YEAR

Competitors can cook any type of curry, classic or contemporary and even from any country!

Part of the Craft Guild of Chefs' British Culinary Championships 2025

The competition will be held as part of the British Culinary Championships and is open to students, amateurs and professional chefs.

The last event of the day will be the

UK Curry Championships - National Curry Chef of the Year.

The judging panel will be made up of multi-award winning chefs from the Craft Guild of Chefs and experienced high profile chefs from the industry.

Competitors are encouraged to seek feedback from the judges once the results are known.

Winners will receive medals from both the Craft Guild of Chefs and UK Curry Connect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it FREE to enter?

The competition classes are £10 to enter via the Craft Guild of Chefs.

The UK Curry Championship is £50 to enter unless you are are a member of the Craft Guild of Chefs or UK Curry Connect, in which case it is FREE, but you must enter via UK Curry Connect or this website.

Do I need to be a professional chef?

No, the competition is open to all. 

Is there a dress code?

Standards of dress for competitors in all live competitions should be professional and adhere to health and safety standards.

Professional chefs should wear their chef whites/jackets.

Can i bring my own equipment?

You are allowed to bring your own knives, cooking utensils, plates etc. Any other kitchen item you may require may be available for you to use at the venue (please enquire).

About us

The UK Curry Championships is a premier chef competition organised by UK Curry Connect (UKCC) in collaboration with the Craft Guild of Chefs.

We are passionate about celebrating the rich and diverse curry culture in the UK and want the best chefs nationwide to come and compete, show off their culinary skills and cooking flair and stand proud as the UK Curry Champion / National Curry Chef of the Year! 

UK Curry Connect

UK Curry Connect (UKCC) is a growing network of like-minded industry professionals all of whom want betterment for the catering industry, not only in these difficult times but beyond as well. Originally formed, as a campaign group to address the staff and skills shortages the industry is currently facing. It lobbies for support from the Government and numerous trade bodies, and continues to tirelessly campaign for workable solutions. A well received policy proposal was recently drafted to address staff shortages against the government’s immigration policies, looking at short-term, medium-term and long-term options.

UKCC are an active member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Businesses and have contributed to various thinktanks and government departments to address issues facing the industry.

UKCC have now grown to not only become a leading voice for the catering industry, but also a pathway where chefs and business owners can contribute ideas as well as develop their skills and knowledge professionally.

The Craft Guild of Chefs

Established in 1885 as a Guild of the Cookery and Food Association,

the Craft Guild of Chefs has developed into the leading Chefs’ Association in the UK

and has many members worldwide. 
Members come from all aspects of the foodservice and hospitality sectors working in a wide variety of positions from students and trainees to top management. No other association boasts such a broad and experienced membership.
